Organize for Complexity - How to Get Work Back to Life and Build for High Performance (German/English, Spanish/Portuguese forthcoming)

Niels latest book is also his most visually compelling  - published in German in late 2013 and in English in April 2014, it is written for readers and non-readers alike. Short, crisp prose, illustrations on every page and an incredibly accessible price make it the perfect primer for everyone interested in how to build organizations for complexity!

The English and German editions are available as paperback, "Deluxe Edition" hardcover (with bonus chapter) and eBook. Further editions will appear throughout 2014: Portuguese is scheduled for June 2013,  Spanish for July 2014.

The 12 New Laws of Leadership. The Codex: Why Management is Dispensable (German/Korean)

Niels´ latest book “The 12 New Laws of Leadership” is a manifesto for abolishing management as we know it. It was published in German in 2009, and as a limited edition paperback in 2011. A translation in Korean language was published under the title “Un-Leadership”, in 2010. It was named best HR book of the year by coaching.de and voted one of the best business books of the year by Hamburger Abendblatt.

Here, Niels proves that Management the social technology we inherited from the industrial age is about to be replaced by a more effective “beta” approach consisting of 12 laws: a codex for designing highly effective, complexity-robust organizations for this century.

Leading with Flexible Targets. Handbook for superior competitive success (German/Portuguese/Russian/Italian)

Immediately after its launch in 2006, Niels´ second book, “Leading with flexible Targets” was awarded the Financial Times Germany Best Business Book award, in the Leadership category. It became an instant success with readers and critics alike, and also a bestseller.

Leading with flexible Targets was subsequently translated into Portuguese, Italian and Russian. In 2011, a revised and amplified second edition in German was published by Campus – now including an additional, 13th case study (that of Zappos), new improved illustrations and an extended final chapter dedicated to transformational change approaches.

Beyond Budgeting, Better Budgeting. Leading Successfully – without Budgets (German)

Niels´ first book, “Beyond Budgeting, Better Budgeting” was originally published in 2003. It was the first book in German on the then brand-new topic of Beyond Budgeting. It soon became a bestseller and also the most widely-read resource by far on Beyond Budgeting in the German-speaking countries.

“Beyond Budgeting, Better Budgeting” was also a critic´s favorite, receiving the nomination of “Best Business Book of the Year” by the business portal changeX. More recently, in 2011, it was named one of the “100 Best Business Books of All Times” in the compendium of the same title published by Murmann Verlag, Germany.

“This book inspired and convinced B.Braun with its more than 43.000 employees to let go of budgeting, annual planning and fixed targets, once and for all.” Andreas Hahn, Senior Vice President Finance and Controlling, Aesculap AG
